Hello!
I just wanted to tell you that you've inspired me to return back to my natural roots! Up until July I was natural, beginning with a BC, TWA, then Dreadlocks. I removed my locks in July and attempted to work with my natural hair again, but I chickened out and relaxed my hair in Oct. of this year. So thank you, you've given me hope

Hello Ms. Mae how are you? I just wanted to say that you have been my inspiration since the beginning of my natural journey. I want to thank you for sharing tips, styles and recipes and I wouldn't have been able to proceed with my BC had it not been for you = )
Hey Mae! Thank you so much for all of the valuable information you have given me through your own natural hair journey. I've natural for 3 years and sometimes get discouraged because my hair is so different. I almost broke down and put a relaxer in my hair. But then I found your Facebook page and now I am more motivated than ever to love my beautiful God-given coils! Please keep doing what you're doing girl! Much love!
You are doing a wonderful job. All the people signed her are ecstatic. Love this new page.
I found out about you first from facebook, then I started looking at your youtube videos and I finally made my way over to your blogspot. I love your styles and am thankful for you sharing with me and other transitioners.
I am a youtube subbie!
wonderful blog, thank you to share with us picture and tutorials
i really enjoy it
Hey Mae! Your blog is quite scrumptious. I enjoy the help.
I recently found this all organic "shop til you blink" website known as BrenditasBodyWorks.com. It's truly awesome. She features a gel known as the Scrunch and Sculpt Oil Free Gel a great alternative to the synthetic gels you may use. I am thinking about purchasing some of the styling aides. Check it out! Thanks for everything.
Gina
Haha. I just noticed the main ingredient is Aloe Vera in the gels.. but they do have some additives such as glycerin and lavender hydrosol. All in all, thanks love!
Have stopped by before but never showed any love! Love the interview on Leaf…I like her music.
This is my first time visiting this site, but I am very pleased. I am pleased with any information that can help me on my transition from relaxed to natural. Keep up the good work!!!!!

a year ago if someone came at me with scissors talkin about this whole "big chop" thing… i probably would've turned and run as far as i could… i sat upon the floor lookin at my long relaxed scraggly ends.. and said "let's do this b4 i change my mind" since then its been cool.. i always love to hear tips about new products and natural hairstyles
So I was transitioning for about 2 months and I get my hair weaved… On Jan. 15,2010 I went for a new sew in weave and told my stylest to cut off all my permed hair!!!!! SO I did my BIG CHOP…do it matter that i still get weaves?
I just discovered your videos on YouTube as I was searching for inspiration to go from relaxed hair to natural. I am going relaxer free, transitioning til June when I will chop off my hair. Thanks for all the great tips
Hey I love your channel and your blog, I just found it yesterday and I wished I had found it sooner. Thanks for all the great tips on transitioning and overall hair care.
I am now on the count down to the BIG CHOP because of you. Feb 1,2010 is my big day. I'll try 2 c if i can get some pics so that u can c.You are my shero. i know that i will love the new me. This will be the me i was born to b.
Hi,
I just did my BC on January 3rd of this year….It has been liberating and frustrating trying to figure out what to do to hold moisture etc. I have type 4B hair, so its rather kinky, but through watching your youtubes, and others I am getting inspired and keeping my focus with this transition; that I just made…Thanks for the info you post…
Hi Ms Mae, i signed the guess book yesterday as anonymous 2 tell u that feb 1,2010 would b the big day, but i couldn't take it anymore. So lastnite i did it. i was so happy that my 17yr old and my 2 yr old love it. Thank u so so much.
Thanks for making this site and all the great videos and articles that come with it. I decided to go natural last Christmas. I'm 9 or so weeks into this and am anticipating my BC soon!
tu es so cute with you TWA…
bisous comme ont dit en France
I just wanted to say, after watching you videos, I did my Big CHOP on Aug 27th, I haven't gone out in my Afro because I need it to be just a little bit large with my face shape. You know everyone's TWA really looks T.W. on certain face shapes. You encourage me to do the cut and even to start my own blog. I am not video but I am going to start that this week on Fashion Highlights and things I like that are trendy. So keep allowing God to use you. I enjoy the bass playing. I am learning my own bass too but I am a fashion merchandising student. God Bless YOU Ms. Mae!!! Words of encouragement: We all have trials and test but be faithful in him. Don't allow the world to steal your JOY!
Hey Mae! I recently did my BC (jan .16)

Hey everyone..i'm in the process of transitioning to become natural. I haven't had a perm since November of 2009 so I'm fresh with it and I cut my hair pretty much. My hair grows really fast so I'm already seeing curls, they are tiny but strong curls. I'm loving it thus far..send me tips at jazzi_214@yahoo.com thanks!
Your blog has been very inspirational and full of useful information. I did my BC on Dec. 5, 2009 and have been loving and learning my TWA since. Keep up the good work!

Name is Joe. Nice job sister, I am proud of you! Keep up the good work!!! Remember Nerissa and I when you get rich, we were the ones who feed you on Sabbath:) lol
Hey Mae! You may not know me, but you probably know my sister (Erinn Ruff). I just wanted to say congratulations on your blog and your new position as part of the naturallycurly.com family. I consider myself to be something of a natural hair blog connoisseur (:D) and your site is fantastic and inspirational. I BC'd in June '07 but since there is still so much that I feel I am learning throughout this process, blogs such as yours are a welcome source of knowledge. I must say that it is somewhat of a surreal experience for me to watch your vids because I remember seeing you and your sisters as young children on Sabbaths at the OC church (I was at OC from 99-2003 and your dad was the assistant pastor for most of that time. Wow I feel old!:) You and your sisters have grown into lovely women and I encourage you to continue to acknowledge the Lord (as you have been) in all that you do. Your hair is fabulous. Keep up the great work.
i'm a male, and I LOVE ladies with natural, its just so beautiful like on the real i consider natural hair jewelry in itself. Stay encouraged and stay strong sistas, luv u all

Hello Mae!
I am one of your subbies. I finally joined your follower list. Nice blog! I wish I had seen the video about the Mrs. Jessie crew coming to Austin before the date it took place. I live about an hour away from Austin and would have loved to be there. Oh, well! Anyways, great blog. Stay sweet and continue to be blessed.
Hello Mae
it have been a month ago without ironing or blow-drying my hair, and I'm looking for new ways of stylishing it whit no heat or chemicals products. I'm not brave enough to take the decision to do the BC, but still want to take care of my hair, keep it healthy, strong and wear my curls proudly no matter what people say.
By chance I found your videos a month ago: you are a real inspiration!
Thanks to you i left behind my cowardy and I decided to become natural
It's a bit difficult here where I live because not many women take this decision and have straight hair seems to be the socially correct way … also there is no conventions or group of women who gather proud of their natural hair there.
I regret to say I do not know my real hair, after many years of relaxing and i don't know how to style it yet, but I will learn … I already took the first step in the decision of being natural, bought a lot of organic hair products free of additives such as isopropyl alcohol or benzenes (they are amazing!) and also started to search for information about how to take care of my hair during the transition.
I still feel a bit insecure but with patience it will give good results.
Wish me luck on my hair journey!
Lids, from Panamá
Hey Mae, I have been natural since 2002, I had wanted to got natural since 2000, but I guess I was scared of what others would think of me or be rejected. Well it's 2010 and at first, yes people did reject me (especially women) I was like shocked at first because they could not understand why. But the Men, Loved it! I was wearing a straight-up afro back then. I used to go the Barber Shop to get it trimmed. Now, I have evolved and tried various hairstyles that's to YouTube and other outlets. I look forward to read your blog.
Hi Mae! I would like to say I find your website very helpful and also that I created a brand new website yesterday (May 24, 2010) and hopefully you can check it out and help me with improvements.

I love reading your blog and your site looks really neat. Hopefully i can meet you at the "Blogging While Brown" COnference in DC. Look it up if you haven't already! Thank you for all that you do lady!!
Mesha
Thank you Mae for this outlet for so many women (especially internationally) who have decided to go natural. You are definitely starting a trend and are a great example for those who may have thought they were in the minority when it comes to social acceptance with something so controversial as our own hair. You are definitely showing the power of one.
love this site, just started transitioning and this is definitely going to be a go to resource as i go through the process..
Love your videos and your blog! Very informative and useful in this new process!
Thank you for sharing your hair care journey with us. I have been transitioning for 5 months now and watching your videos encourages me to keep it up.

HEyy miss MAe!!!
I <3 this blog…ive been natural for a 1yr and some change and this has inspired me s00 much…thanxxx
this is so awesome ive been perm free for 8 years and I love it plus I feel healther from pain in my head that last for 3 weeks after a perm. none of my friends think they can do it.
I have been following you on youtube and now this site for about 3 weeks. On June9, 2010, I made the HUGE decision to cut off my hair and go natural. This was after weeks of deliberating and having so many people in my life sound in on the decision. Most of the feedback was positive…some was more negative. Regardless, I had no idea how I would feel after I did it.
I have to say with 100% honesty, that I am VERY happy that I made the decision. I will say in addition however, that cutting off my relaxed hair after only growing it out for a little over a month was the most EMOTIONAL thing that I have ever done. Your blog encouraged me to see my TRUE NATURAL beauty and to not be wrapped up in sterotypical images nor self inflicted images of beauty. When I watched your big chop, I almost cried. I knew that it was my time and turn.
I have only been natural for a week now, and I overall feel great. There are FOR SURE moments when I look in the mirror and don't feel as beautiful as before. Times when I feel like a boy and even wish that I just had more length. But I am SO encouraged by your journey and learning that I have got to start feeling comfortable in my own skin…with or w/o relaxed hair. I am finally seeing my eyes, my cheek bones, the sparkle that is in my appearance. I'm finally learning that I have to walk with my head up. To be a proud black woman with proud black coils.
Thank you for documenting your journey. You have no idea how much you have been a blessing to me and I truly thank God for your diligence. I pray that this never becomes a burden, but that instead out of your passion that you would feel encouraged to bless others with the information and knowledge that you share.
God Bless…JustKriss
This is SOOO awesome! I saw and subscribed to your channel on YouTube and decided to check out the website! I am actually documenting MY transition now… IF I decide to post it, YOU will be my inspiration!
Keep the vids, pics and info coming…
Thanbk you for your insight and your journey it is very inspiring! I had my bc on March 5th of this year, no transitioning period, just had my husband cut it all off…I feel so liberated and proud to be me, the me God created! I can not wait to see the growth (in me and my hair). God Bless. MissDEE
Just ran across your site and love it. Your hair type appears to be alot like mine and love your twist out with the baby buttercreme. Keep up the good work..I will have been natural for two years in August! Oh, also had to get a t-shirt!!
hi Mae,love love looove yo youtube vids n this site is great!thnk u…
Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement. If I had to do this on my own I would've given up.
Hi Mae! I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate all of the info that you provide. I did the BC in March on St. Patrick's Day this year. I did it myself in my bathroom after work. I had been thinking about going natural for a while and now that I am… I love it! Love, Love, Love the youtube videos! Thx again
~Nakikke
Love your page & looking @ FB to see what is new daily. You had so many FAB TWA photos. I was looking for mine; but did not see it. Keep up the good work!!!
Very informative! Love it.
Yesterday I made the Big Chop. After getting my relaxed hair cut off, I came home and tried the Mizani True Textures Shampoo, Conditioner, and Curl Moisture Stretch. I'm not really sure how well it worked because I really can not compare it to any other product yet, but I was disappointed in how dry my hair felt after 3-5 hours. Has anyone ever used Kinky Curly Curl Custard and how do you like it? What other products do you recommend as far as shampoo, conditioner, daily mosturizing, etc?
I'm a subscriber to your youtube videos and decided to check out your site. I mostly follow the ones who have a similar hair type to mine.(4)Great job! Love the videos!
Suitelady90
Love your site! I am a natural newbie so I will be following you!
I love your site! I love your videos! And I love your pictures! Thank you for opening the door for others, like myself, to learn more about our natural hair. I have just decided to go natural. It's only been 6 weeks since I last got my relaxer. So I am a novice! But with your helpful tutorials and your blog as a whole. I am going to enjoy this transition stage. I am thinking of doing the big chop when I get to about 6 months. I am so excited! Thanks again for being a guide to women like myself who want to strip away from the bondage of relaxers and walk into the freedom of being beautiful just how God made us.
I'll keep you posted!
Sadia

I've subscribed to your youtube channel months ago and I always see this website at the end of your videos but never check it out. Well, today I'm glad i did!! This is awesome. Your hair journey pics are great and very inspiring! Also, your blog is so informative. I've learned a lot more about hair care in just 30 minutes of rummaging through here! Awesome work, girl. Keep it up! =)
HOLA MAE!! darlin I’m a a fan!! Girl let me tell youu..omgee. My older sister got hooked on your transitions because she was tired of her old damaged relaxed hair..soooooo she did the big chop. I on the other hand am doing the long transition (which is annoying). I haven’t done the chop because I don’t feel it’ll look good on me because I’m so use to blow drying it. Every time I watch your videos I’m convinced to do the big chop but all my friends tell me not to do it because it won’t look good on me. So you need to understand my struggle. I only added pain to my tragedy by getting bangs, so darling..my nose looks bigger. I just want to say though, that my sisters hair looks fabulous thanks to You Tube videos including yours. But a Puerto-Rican, Dominican diva like me, needs your honest suggestions on what the heck to do with her hair. Thanks =)
