I love this site because I get to learn new styles to do my hair, making me feel beautiful, also I like to leanr the healthy products I can put in my hair instead of doing things that may hurt it and hurt me.

I would like to see other peoples experiences or other products you can use in your hair. not just oils or shampoo but accesores or what if its damages your hair to keep it braided and wrapped for a certain period

Can’t wait to see more from you!

I love this site mainly because it is my goto destination for natural hair advise. Its was one of the first I discovered when starting my journey last year. There are always great post on not only great styles but healthy hair care.

  • Shay January 7, 2011, 2:39 pm

You know, it’s really hard to figure out what I like most about the blog. I think it’s your spirit that it’s your channel, blog, and facebook page. It’s just always so joyful and uplifting and with the down times that come with being natural it’s nice to always have that positivity. Included in that is you’re always willing to share the spotlight with other “naturalistas”. It’s not all about you; that’s nice. Y me encanta el espanol:)

I’d like to see more hair styles (yours or pics of others esp. fashion) and tutorials. I’m sure it’s tons of work especially while in school; so thanks bunches! – Godisamazing@gmail.com

    1. What i like most about Naturalchica.com is the tips to keeps my hair healthy and the different tutorials on how to obtain the different hair styles.

    2. Something i would like to see on the sitee in the future is maybe more information on different hair types since everyone doesnt have the same texture of hair and possibly some forums as well

  • Ludny January 7, 2011, 2:42 pm

I like this site because of the product reviews.. It gives me an idea of what to purchase especially if I see someone with a similiar texture to mine.

I think it would be cool to have more updates on people who have BC’d just to see how everything is going with their hair. Things always change the first few months after the BC and I want to know if people are still excited about the change, if they changed the products they used, etc etc…along with updated pictures :)

    1. Love the tutorials and information about becoming and maintaining natural hair. I also love the interaction between other naturals!
    2. Woudl like more information about natural products and other “how to” hairstyles for short naturals.

  • Kimberly January 7, 2011, 2:44 pm

    1. I love the simple fact that your are real. You are not some big time star tryin to get others to do something that you have your “people” do it for you. You are real and are going and have gone through the same things we have and are.
    2. I would love to see more protective styles and styles in general

  • Jade January 7, 2011, 2:49 pm

what i enjoy about NaturalChica.com is fact that you dont see 2 many websites really focused on natural hair for “us” and thats awesome!

what i would like to see on the website is more hair accessories..i am natural myself and i love wearing them!

  • Valerie J. January 7, 2011, 2:53 pm

I have been following you on You Tube, FB, & Natural Chica since I first thought about going Natural. I was there when you BC & even now a year & some months later. I check in daily for updates, tutorials, hair ideas, & product reviews. Especially love the oil vid & making your own products. I even thought about the accessory idea, but never could master the hair bows & pins. I have been natural 8 mos, along with traditioning 7 mos. I love being NATURAL!!

I love all you have to say from day to day. Continue to show steps for night & stretching the hair. I try your tips, but mine still does not stretch. Keep all that coming and also try to reply to as many people as you can. I know you receive tons of emails, questions, & comments along with your busy schedule. It is always good to receive a response or reply back as acknowledgement when we contact or comment your post or blogs.

Vlogs, Blogs, Interviews, Tutorials, Pictures, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc., you are getting the information out and it is happily welcomed and accepted by those who have an interest in natural hair!

What I would like to see on the site in the future, inspiration and information on eating right and maintaining a healthy body. Both which are essential in life and for gorgeous hair! =)

  • Chassie January 7, 2011, 2:58 pm

I follow you on facebook. I absolutely love your hair and all the styles you have shown.

    1. My favorite thing is how you try new styles and share so that others can try them out too. I started the 2-strand twist out because of you!!!

    2. I would love to see ways to interact more with the other natural chica’s. I am constantly struggling with moisturizing products. I don’t know if my hair grows accustomed or what.

  • Porcha January 7, 2011, 3:00 pm

    (1) The most I liked about Natural Chica is the great information and support that it offers to those that want to go natural and for some reason can’t find the courage or the right info to start this journey. Agreed, going natural is something that must be self-initiated and from the heart, but you can’t just dive into it with out proper info =) Major no no! lol Being that where I live there are no resources for people that want to go natural, I decided to do some research and I was so blessed to find the you tube page 1st and then ended up here. Something I would like to see on the website is probably more info about the transition stage of going natural. How to go about taking care of permed and natural hair at the same time, because that is an issue I ran into and didn’t find alot of info on.
Anyway, best of luck, u guys are awesome!
    Besos y abrazos (xoxox)

I love Natural Chica! It has inspired me to step outside the box and love every part of myself. Doing the BC was like lifting a weight off of my shoulders. All the tutorials have greatly helped me in this natural hair journey. The only thing I would like to see is more styles that you can wear for the medium length fro.

  • Monica Jones January 7, 2011, 4:32 pm

I enjoy Natural Chica (Mae) simply for the fact that she is Mae. If it was not for her blogs and videos, I would have went back to relaxers two months ago. Her blogs are always on point. Thank Mae for being my natural hair sister.

I think this site is great. The only thing I would like to see is a Hair Café, something similar to private rooms for us NATURALS.

    1. What I like about NaturalChica.com is that it gives all naturals and transitioners the opportunity to educate themselves further on how to treat for natural hair, without this site I would truly be lost and may have gone back to the “dark side” and relaxed my hair.

    2. I would like to see more product reviews based on your hair type, I was a complete product junkie for a while because I thought everything used for natural hair would suit my hair type, which wasn’t the case.

Thank you much for educating us all Mae!

  • Felicia P January 7, 2011, 5:06 pm

I enjoy NaturalChica.com because it started out as your personal journey about going natural and has turned into a “go to” source for many other women who are considering going natural, transitioning, or already natural. You invest so much time to provide your followers with critical and entertaining information and your vlogs are very powerful. The tutorials are awesome and your singing and moments with Angel are too cute.

In the future, I’d like to see the site continue to grow and see more of your experiences at different natural hair shows and meet n greets : )

    (1) NaturalChica.com is one of my favorite natural hair resources. I love the interviews and the video tutorials. But most of all I love seeing your hair journey. You are an inspiration!! (2) I’d like to see an interview with a natural who has chopped off or combed out their locs. I just did this and would love to see how others have transitioned this way.

The thing that I love about naturalchica.com is the wealth of information that is on this site and the amount of support amongst all the naturals and soon to be naturals(like myself)

The one thing that I would love to see on here are more homemade ideas for haircare products!

  • Karen F January 7, 2011, 10:40 pm

I am where I am in my natural hair journey because of the “Nikkimae2003″ Youtube videos. I wanted to go natural. I went through my transitioning stage and finally decided it was time for the big chop. Actually, I didn’t even know getting my perm cut out had a name until I found Nikkimae 2003. Although I’ve watched quite a few how-to videos, I’ve found myself always wanting to know Mae’s opinion about products and to see new ways to style my hair. Mae, your personality is really warm and you seem to truly want to encourage others in their natural hair journey. I’m loving my natural hair and all the freedom that comes with it. I credit Nikkimae 2003 and Natural Chica with my hair success stories and I always tell others about your site. Thanks Mae!!!!!! What would I like to see more of? Everything you’ve got to offer. You’re always so informative! If you’ll share it, I’ll watch it or read it! Yea, addicted!

  • Melissa January 7, 2011, 11:26 pm

    Hello there!

The things that I love about this site are: all of the hair advice, the support for all of the natural sistas:), putting the spotlight on VERY beautiful ladies who aren’t afraid to rock their ‘fro, and just all of the love<3 and sheer happiness one gets whenever she reads anything that gets posted:)

I would really love to see more things about TWA's and possibly a forum where other naturalistas can talk and just express themselves!

Thank You for creating this website. I really appreciate it:)

I enjoy the warmness of your personality through your natural hair journey. It’s a humbling thing to see that your site is not solely limited to natural life appearing as though you have no life outside of physical appearance. Your education adds class.

I’d like to see more entrepreneurs featured on your site…. Great publicity for you and those being promoted.

My favorite thing about Natural Chica is that I feel like I’m part of a community, I’m not alone in my natural hair experience and I can read about topics relative to my interests with women similar to me.

I’d like to see a feature having something to do with Mae’s favorite product of the month. Where you feature a new product that you have tried that you really want to recommend to the rest of us. :)

I love this site because its inspring not to just see Nikki Mae’s journey and tips, but to also see tips and ideas from other readers and bloggers. Its been a wonderful journey going natural and may be the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.

As far as what I’d like to see on the site, besides inspiration I’d like to see a topic about what difficulties others had about the natural journey when it came to family members or friends who were just against the process. I only bring this up because I’m having a difficulty with a close family member being thoroughly against the natural process.

  • Jalisa January 9, 2011, 12:07 am

  • Lakia January 9, 2011, 3:24 am

I enjoy coming to your site to read about the different products you have tried and reviewed on. It kinda gives me a heads up on new things to try out on my hair (if its in my cheapo price range, LOL!) I am still trying to find a solid regimen for my natural hair. =D I also enjoy watching your hair tutorials also. Gosh, your hair is amazing, I want mines to be as big and thick as yours when it grows up [TT_TT] hehe. By watching those it has let me step out of the norm and try new hair styles. While I do love wearing my in a puff, it can kinda get boring after it in a heavy repetition, lol.

What I would like to see or I think it would be a neat idea to have on your site would like a hair section of member’s hair (or anyone’s hair) past and present. Like what they looked like when they had a relaxer and what they look like now with their big, beautiful natural hair. I guess it is to kind of give to others courage that are afraid to go natural. Also, to give hope to the recently BCed that may have small doubts that hair wont grow back and be better than ever. ^_^

What I love most about naturalchica.com is the diverse natural hair content. I appreciate that when I big chopped I could turn to your site because I know that any insecurities I was feeling at that time there was a topic or tutorial or product to help me deal with it. I also appreciate that you introduce us to new styles that you invent or that you discover through other naturals.
In the future it would be great to see more of your sisters on the blog or on youtube. I’m sure since they have been natural for so long they have a lot of great advice or styles to show us.

Ive blogged about this contest here. :)

What I like the most about your blog is you! You are such an open and welcoming person. It is a pleasure to read your blog and watch your videos! I honestly can’t think of anything to add to the blog right now. You seem to have it on lock down. You do a great job discussing how to care for natural hair. Congratulations on your success!

Hi Mae! I love everything about the site…all the tips are so helpful. But I especially loved when you added the Big Chop Files! That’s my fav part of the site. I enjoy reading the ladies different reasons for deciding to wear their hair in it’s natural state. Very encouraging.

I would like to see a section for the transitioners as well. I’ve done a big chop before in the past but right now I’m currently transitioning again (almost ready to BC) and would like to see some ladies experiences on how they deal with both textures and see their styling options they choose and tips and products…etc…Thanks…you’re a true inspiration

  • Regina Hinson January 9, 2011, 5:05 pm

I love this site because you have been really good about documenting your journey through pictures and video tutorials. I have relied on that heavily when thinking of new styles to try based on my hair length and texture (which seems to be ever-evolving). I would like to see more spotlights on curlies who went through the transitioning process. Thanks for all that you do! (regina.hinson@gmail.com)

    1. I love love love all your tips and styles for natural hair. I’ve tried twice in the past to go back natural and was unsuccessful simply because I didnt do my research on transition styles, products, etc. When I decided again around sept/oct of 2010 to start my natural hair journey, I came across your youtube channel. Your videos motived me so much. You are such an inspiration, seriously! I went out to WF the next payday and spent about $100 on oils. Im constantly reading labels now before anything goes in my hair. Right now Im rocking braids, and cant wait to take them out to see how much growth I have.
    2. I would love to see or hear about more transition styles for people like me who’s not read to do the BC. (Im new so sorry if you already have videos on this topic)

  • Shopes January 11, 2011, 6:51 pm

1)I like natural chica because i got to follow your hair journey from when you bc’ed to the length yu’ve reached now.I was inspired to go natural.you make natural hair so appealing and beautiful. In a society where the norm is to have straight hair and the natural hair styles you see are archaic and outmoded this was an eye opener.
2)In the future i would like to see more recipes and moda fashion segments.

  • Dena J January 12, 2011, 2:54 pm

  • Chawntika Wilson January 12, 2011, 3:38 pm

I like Natural Chica because it makes me feel proud to be natural! I recently have became natural and it was very discouraging because I had no one to support me. Everyone in my family live by permes, they go every two weeks! So it was hard to feel pretty when my own family looked at me wierd! Natural Chica gives me confidence and courage to embrace my natural hair. I followed you hair journey on you tube and you Inspired me to follow through with my decision, even when my family said it was a bad idea. In the future I would love to see more hair accessories, jewelry, hand bags, hair supplies & clothes that represent us Natural Chicas!

1.I love this site because you always provide fun, funky, and creative ideas to rock my naturalness! I have been natural for over 2 years now and before coming across your site and youtube videos, I was clueless!! First of all I didn’t feel secure, confident, sexy, or beautiful wearing my natural. But once I saw your tutorials and pictures, you gave me the confidence I needed to love and appreaciate my natural beauty.

2.In the future I would like to see maybe a forum for other natural chicas to vent, chat, or describe their natural hair highs and lows, giving tips on styling, products, and more pics of new creative do’s!

  • Azia January 13, 2011, 10:50 am

    1. I love this site because it is sooo helpful. Learning different routines to care for my hair and all the tutorials for styles.

    2. I wish there was more interaction. I have posted questions on here and they have not been answered. Especially the one about what you use on your edges to make them lay down when you just wear a big afro puff!. My edges are always fluffing up and it doesnt look good at all! Thanks :)

  • Mae January 13, 2011, 1:35 pm

Hi Angela, I wish I had more time to respond to everyone’s questions but unfortunately I don’t : ( To answer your question though…I currently use Design Essentials Defining Creme Gel from their new natural haircare line

    1. I love the chill vibe the site has, its not confusing to navigate. Some sites you have to open so many tabs just to see different hair styles or something that catches your eye but naturalchica.com has a flow to it that keeps things simple and straightforward!

    2. I’d like to see more product reviews from different curly girls and hair types. I never know what I may pick up until I see a review from a girl with my similar hair type.

  • Jan January 13, 2011, 4:55 pm

I am inspired by all of the hair styles and tutorials that you post on this page. I also love the big chop files because I use those girls stories to help keep me motivated for the wonderful hair styles to come.

  • brooklyn weaver January 13, 2011, 10:45 pm

i love this website because I can find so many different hairstyles to be inspired from. just click on the link and I can see pictures of how her hair turned out with that style. this website is a great place to go back to to get ideas.

one thing I think might be cool is for you to have a subscriber shoutout. you can pick a picture of one of your followers hairstyles and feature it on you page once or month or something. but i really cant think of anything else that would add to this page. you’ve done an awesome job mae!! i love it.

In addition, I’d also love to have her post a few videos of her singing (like she has on her youtube channel). She has a BEAUTIFUL voice!!!! :) I believe her voice can inspire many!

I am a huge fan of NaturalChica.com. I love the fact that you stayed in line with my belief that beauty comes from more than outside. So as my hair grew longer, my heart grew bigger. Thank you for the positive and brightly filled support.
Hopefully in the future, I get to see more photography, but with a twist. I would love to see a beautiful picture of natural depicted in fantasy. With your photography skills, you could do some great pictures of a natural Little Red Robin Hood or Sprite Fairy. Art is freedom and natural is surely free!

  • Jessica L January 16, 2011, 1:47 pm

    1. I love the diferent articles and advice on hair on this website.
2 I would love to see more protectives styles that are not of the norm (twist and braids).
