I just wanted to say one you have helped me out a lot. You are my hair twin so watching your videos shows me what I have to look forward too. I do have a question about frizz. I have a lot at the ends of my hair and don’t know what to do to stop it. I just figure to cut it. But there has to be better way. I researched what to do but how long will it take to repair it? Also what so you think will help.Chica to Chica?

    Thanks in advance,

    B

I am REALLY ready to go natural. Can you send me some information on how I can get started? I live in Baltimore and most natural stylists here tell me that I have to cut all my hair. I have at least 2 inches of new growth. Why can’t I just get the PERMED hair cut off???? Please advise.

    Sincerely,
    Roberta

Hey I’ve been natural a little over a year. And I decided to not do my BC this second time around. However, the product that I have been using has helped me to go through this transitioning period a lot smoother. I love the G Natural Smoothing Glaze that is a natural straightener and heat protector. I live by the products G Natural offers. The Hair & Scalp conditioner is thee best! Love it!! And the best thing that I love about this company is that you earn points for using the products and referring others to the products. Check it out http://www.gnaturalherbalproducts.com/jvtdistributors. Also there’s an up-coming Naturally Beautiful meet-up group taking place in Baltimore. Send me an email if you would like more info.

    I love your website!!
I particularly love the logo!!! It’s fantastic!

I live in Las Vegas!! My hair is dry and breaking off no matter what I try. Has any discussed this problem with very dry areas?
    Thanks in advance!!

      Hello,
I know what you mean, I lived in vegas for years and my hair was always dry and breaking off, partly because I didn’t know how to take care of it. Recently I returned to vegas for just two weeks, I currently live in indiana, and in those two weeks it was just BAD! I did everything that I normally do with my hair and no matter what my scalp was dry and my hair was dry. I find that while I was there I wasn’t taken in much water, because I was visiting a family that drinks water by the boat load and it got finished pretty fast lol. I think, the problem is maybe staying hydrated and finding a good moisturizer. I used scurl again while there, which I stopped using in indiana and bam! my hair was hydrated. It was really odd for me. I think while in vegas you kind of need to do more deep conditioning treatments to stay moisturized. I’m kinda glad I don’t have to work as hard in indiana for my hair, but I love vegas way more.

      Happy Hair Journey!

I am so in love with your YouTube videos, did you know you had a stalker, lol!
I think you are one of the first ladies that inspired me to go natural after I had debated it for over 2 years. I had never seen my natural hair and live a very busy lifestyle. I knew my natural hair would need more tlc than when I was relazed and wasn’t sure if I had the “time” to care for my hair the way it deserved. Thank you for all your insoiring videos, blogs, etc. Keep it up, I applaud what you do and look forward to following your progression.

I first want to say Thank you for all your videos, it help me a lot;) I finally meet someone with my texture hair… I’m currently 5 1/2 months natural and I’m loving my hair each and everyday!!! Now here is where my problem lies because my hair is still in the TWA stage and my hair is extremely thick, it takes about 2 1/2 hours to do a twist or even a coil… For me that is too long especially when I have things to do in a day/nite. I’m currently married with a 4 yr old toddler and I attend school online, so my day is pretty hectic as you can imagine;) So HELP!!!!!!! By the time I get to my hair its after I’m done with my studies which is normally around 1:00am (est):(
    Lets say I start a two strand twist around 1:30am at 3:30am I’m done…:(
Please email if have any suggestion;)

    Kind Regards,
    Sasylady7

Thanks in advance

    Hi,

I did the big shop in september and if not for youtube, I would have been extremely miserable with going back natural BUT thanks to the most high I found NikkiMae and also SimplYounique’s! They have been a great help with my decision as I have Alopecia (auto immune disorder) and have quite a few hair loss patches, which have been pretty hard to cover up but I try my best. My difficulty though is that I live in Barbados (caribbean) and most products such as like Eco Styler Gel, Kinky Curly and Miss Jesse etc arent readily available here and I have much difficulty finding products that bare the same effect that i see when the twist outs and the wash and go are demonstrated. I need help urgent help! lol Having alopecia really sucks and I just need to find the right products any suggestions??

    Blessings

    • Jalisa says:

Eco styler gel is available at Sallys Beauty Supply as well as their website. lol They have a huge tub!! Kinky Curly and Miss Jessies is available at most Targets now

I need some help. I was wondering if it was ok for me to ask you what company do you used for your t-shirts. I have lots of request from my community group for a shirt I design but don’t know the first step to take. I am a natural sister as well, and was seeking some sister support.

    Thanks in advance

I’m struggling with my hair! I did the big chop November 20th of 2010. I have tried so many products that I’m tired. My friends that are natural try to help by advising me to use the products that they use but that is not working. My hair or scalp obsorbs all the moisture leaving my hair looking very dry. Sometimes depending on the amount of oil that I use, my hair may look dry but by touch there is plenty of oil. I think the more water that I saturate my hair and scalp with the dryer my hair gets.

I have seen your utube videos and your transformation has been priceless. Please help!

  23. Dionne says:

I love your video’s. I’m a different case though. My hair has been natural for over 7 now but has to grown a long as your. It’s still short. It seems like it’s growing more now that I have cut down suger from my diet. It also seems like when my hair is braided or locked (I had sister locks before) it grows longer. I’m using the spritz for moisture but for updated verson you said make an oil based spritz. It seems like my hair since it is tightly coiled hair like the rosewater, oil’s and leave-in conditioner mixed into one. Is this becasue our hair has different textures? Do you use rosewater or just oils?

  24. Courtney says:

Hey there I wanted to know if you use any vitamins to help you hair grow. If so which one’s you use, or which vitamins would you prefer?

  25. Ally says:

Hi Mae! I was wondering where you got your hair steamer from. I have been going to a salon that uses them, but it is getting to expensive. I want to invest in my own.

  26. Poarche says:

I am debating the big chop…I have been using the keratin treatment, but will not be getting anymore chemicals. With that being said, what are your favorite products?

  27. IlishaStarr says:

Hi Mae!!!! I just did my BC on April 16th, and I just had a quick question. I usually c0-wash my hair every night, and I was wondering if that is safe for my hair??? I am so new to this, and I just want to make sure that I am doing things right, so I can have healthy hair. You have been such an inspiration for me….thank you very much for all of your youtube vids! Be Blessed
