The first moment I saw my son’s beautiful face, I was overcome with so many different emotions. I was in awe of this new life that stared back at me and was immediately filled with an indescribable feeling of intense love that I had never experienced before. With tears of elation streaming down my face, I knew right then and there that I would do anything for my son. It has now been a month since I’ve entered the journey of motherhood and each day has been filled with exciting surprises, humbling experiences and a ton of new life lessons. I am now beginning to understand the immense sacrifices that are made as a mother and I’ve grown to appreciate even more what my own mother has done for me throughout my life. [Read more…]
So I have to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to support me and Mimi J. as we celebrated our 4th annual Naturally Pretty event with a “High Texture Tea”! When Mimi J. and I started this event back in 2011, we wanted to create an interactive experience full of all things natural hair and beauty and an opportunity that would also give us a platform to give back to our charity of choice, the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women & Children. We have been so appreciative of the support over the last few years and this year was no different! Thank you to our title sponsor ( Beautiful Textures ), media sponsor (talkingtexture.com) and our gold sponsor ( CURLS ) for helping to make this event possible!

I’m so excited for a brand new year and what better way to kick off the year with a giveaway
This week’s giveaway is a Q-Redew Handheld Hair Steamer. This became one of my favorite hair tools this past year as you can see in the vid below. It really helps me to extend my styles before wash day since the added steam allows me to manipulate and stretch my hair and the steam evaporates quickly to help cut down on setting time for my style.
Several months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Lauren Thomas, who works as a digital marketing strategist. Recently, she launched Digital Diversity, a platform for highlighting people of color who are making an impact in new media and technology. I had the honor of participating in the web series featured on the site and wanted to share with you all! During my chat with Lauren we touched on topics including building my brand and the importance of overcoming fears and obstacles to pursue your dreams.
You can check out some snippets of the interview below, but to see the full interview you can head over to digitaldiversity.tv
Many thanks to Lauren and the Digital Diversity team for this feature!
For those of you who have been following NaturalChica.com for a while, you know that for the past two years, I’ve co-hosted a natural hair & beauty event called “Naturally Pretty” in Atlanta with the talented makeup artist, Mimi J. I’ve enjoyed working with Mimi over the past two years and I was excited when she called me up to participate in a new project of hers launching next month called “Beat & Snatched”. I asked Mimi to share with my readers what this new project was all about, so feel free to read on for more info!
Hey everyone! 2013 has started off with a bang and I’m so very excited to announce the launch of my new project “Beat & Snatched” coming this February! For those who know me, they know that I love collaborating with great people, sharing knowledge, and showcasing other great talent. That is what this project is all about. I am on the hunt for showcasing some of the best hair and makeup across the US and providing great beauty tutorials, interviews, as well as behind the scenes footage from photoshoots and film/tv projects.
