Transitioning Styles

I hate to admit it, but I've become increasingly addicted to YouTube in order to search out new styles to try with my transitioning hair. The first time I decided to transition, I would constantly flat iron my hair, which I later learned would damage the emerging natural curl pattern growing underneath all my perm. Now, I've decided to try out styles that require minimum to no heat and boy is my hair thanking me for it already!! My hair hasn't felt this thick and healthy in a LONG time. Thought I'd share some of the sets and styles I've tried out so far : )

1. Getting a weave

So I decided to get a weave right after I made my decision to go natural again. I was getting tired of straightening my hair with the flat iron and wanted to give my hair a break. This was my first time getting one though and although it turned out looking nicely, it was way more work and more annoying than I expected! Of course, I had to leave out some of my own hair to blend in with the weave and I don't even have to say how hard it was for me to keep that blended in with the long, straight weave I chose (what was I thinking?!! - a kinky, curly weave would have been a much better option). I also came to appreciate the line "Pat your weave" from that oh so popular Beyonce song : ) Let's just say that this style lasted a month on my head...and won't be happening again for me for a while.

2. Flexi-rod set

I absolutely love setting my hair with flexi-rods! From one set, I was able to wear different styles for the whole week!

3. Two-strand twist with Bantu Knot-Out

Gives a more "crinkly" look and lots of volume!

4. Two-strand twist

I like this style because you can wear the twists and then later on in the week you can unravel the twists for a new look.

I'd love to hear about some of the styles you all have tried yourselves!!
