Blogger Naturalista: Jessica

Meet JESSICA from www.naturalfab.blogspot.com

When you started rockin' your TWA: August 2009

If you went through/going through a transition process, how did you care for your hair during that process (styles...products you used, etc.) ?: I co-wash my hair everyday in the shower...but what I do is (and I'm not sure if this is considered co-washing since I'm a newbie LOL) I rinse my hair in the shower, once I get out I apply some of Miss Jessie's Buttercream and massage it into my scalp, then oil my hair with my moisturizing mixture, then I top it off with Carol's Daughter Khoret Amen Leave-In conditioner...then I go out and since I don't have air in my car, I put my windows down and let it air dry LOL. It feels AMAZING with the peppermint of the MJ Buttercream and the breeze...

The ONE style that I've been rocking is just my curls defined. All I do is apply some EcoStyler (alcohol free!) gel, brush it upwards in small sections (to get the curl) and let it dry for about an hour....or 3 LOL

What were some of the initial reactions to your TWA: From ME: Honestly...I wasn't really feeling it all that much. It took some getting used to. From OTHERS: They LOVED it! The most common comment I get is, "You have the PERFECT face for that haircut!"...That makes me feel all warm inside 🙂

Do you feel that anything changed in your life (i.e. Boost in confidence)
when you became all natural?: I think I DO have a little boost in confidence. I mean you HAVE to. It's pretty bold to rock a TWA and you can't do it if you have insecurities because it will only make you feel worse....I think I became more in tune with myself also.

3 things you love most about having a TWA: Not having to worry about wasting alot of time doing my hair in the mornings, Not having to think "which hairstyle should I wear today" and to have it not turn out right :-/, originality 😉

What are 5 products your hair can't live without?: As of now, I'm still trying to figure out what products my hair likes and doesnt like. But so far I'm using: My moisturizing concoction (a mixture of shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and a few drops of rosemary oil)(I actually stole this--minus the rosemary oil--- from BeautifulBrwnBabyDol on YouTube---she's GREAT!) , Carol's Daughter Khoret Amen Leave-In Conditioner, Miss Jessie's Buttercream, EcoStyler gel (when I'm defining my curls), and Carol's Daughter Hair Milk

When and why did you start your blog?: I started my blog about a month before I did my big chop. I was doing a lot of research on going natural from a LOT of other naturalistas and I already blog but I figured it would be cool to have a blog that focused on ONE specific topic....and then Natural Fab was born 🙂

What types of topics do you post on your blog?:
My blog basically chronicles my journey. In the beginning it was me and my sister, but she quit on me. She got a perm (which sucks because her texture was AMAZING!) I talk about what products I use, what new products I'm trying, concoctions (that I mostly get from other ppl on blogs or youtube), and interesting new stuff I find out about going natural.

What do you love most about blogging?:
I love just saying what I have to say about what I'm going throught and knowing that SOMEONE out there cares enough to read my thoughts....or I HOPE they do at least....

How would you describe your hair?:
I have no idea how to "type" my hair and I actually don't think it's long enough for me to type yet. I have a FEW curls but mostly naps....LOL

What words would you leave with someone who is thinking about going
natural?: Forget what you think people are going to think about you because A. They aren't paying your bills so they're opinion shouldn't matter anyway, and B. You may THINK people wont like it but you'll be surprised at how many people will commend you for doing it...and maybe even envy you.

What do you love most about being natural/transitioning?: FREEDOM! It feels so good to not be held back by my hair! And it feels even better to not have to worry about how my hairstyle is holding up....

Do you have any other electronic means that we can use to keep up with

your natural journey? (i.e. Fotki)
