Meet Mrs. Married (of www.missesmarried.blogspot.com)

How long have you been natural? And if you haven't been natural your whole life, what prompted you to make the change?
My last relaxer was Valentines Day 2009 and my big chop was May 2009. I wasn't looking to go natural. My doctor told me I had to start working out and eating better, so I began trying to workout and keep a relaxer. Good Luck! I was blowdrying every other night and sometimes skipped the gym because I had somewhere to go that evening. I began hating that I was choosing my hair over my health. My husband and I plan on trying for kids in a year and I couldn't let my hair be the reason I wasn't doing what was best for me and them. So, I got braids thinking that would solve the issue. Then, I began researching relaxers and the damage they do to your hair and scalp. I had been living with chemical burns on my scalp for as long as I can remember treating it like it was normal. I asked myself, "If I was exposed to a chemical that caused my skin to burn, would I go back and expose myself to that again 6 weeks later?" That was the moment I decided that I had had my last relaxer. YEAH!

(Mrs. Married's relaxed days)

Do you feel that anything changed in your life (i.e. Boost in confidence) when you became all natural?
I am such a different person now. For the first time I felt like people were seeing me and nothing else. I am confident in myself and my ability to make choices based on what's best for me and my loved ones. I don't care so much about what other people think anymore, which used to be something that crippled me. I am more myself than I have ever been, physically and mentally.

(Few weeks after her BC)

When and why did you start your blog?
I started my blog Mrs. Married in August of this year and I'm so excited! My husband and I have been through a lot of ups and downs in our 4 year marriage and I guess I wanted to tell our story and share the lessons learned through hard work and patience. I also wanted to hear from others too. Whenever we are around other couples, it feels good to hear that the problems we face aren't so different.

No relationship is perfect, but all relationships can succeed. I feel like that is the most important message I wanted to get out there.

What types of topics do you post on your blog?
I talk about anything that comes to my mind or is brought up by others. So far I've talked about communication, appreciation, arguments, money, trust and the list goes on. I hope to talk about any and everything, even if it doesn't directly relate to marriage or relationships.

What do you love most about blogging?
It gives anyone a platform to speak their mind. Little ole' me gets to have a voice.

How would you describe your hair?
It's all over the place with so much variety, just like me.

What are 5 products your hair can't live without?
Cantu Shea Leave In Conditioner
ALOE VERA GEL!!!!!
Shea Butter
Hot Six Oil (has every good for your hair oil in one convienient bottle)
satin cap
wide toothed comb
spray bottles
Hair Mayo
Deep Conditioner (I'm currently still interviewing for my star DC)

What words would you leave with someone who is thinking about going  natural?
Do it! But only if your mind and heart are dedicated to the idea.

Do you have any other electronic means that we can use to keep up with   your natural journey? (i.e. Fotki)
Not specifically for my hair, but you can check out Mrs. Married and the Mrs. Married Facebook Fanpage to see my updated photos in the future.
