Natural CHICO: Meet Marquise!

If you're a YouTube fanatic like I am, you know there are countless of videos made by fellow chicas on natural hair care.

So imagine my surprise as I'm going through natural hair vids and I find one by a GUY who is talking about how he cares for his natural hair and is mentioning things like staying away from sulfates and the benefit of co-washes!

I was definitely intrigued, so I tracked him down and he was kind enough to be interviewed for the site : )

MEET our first "Natural CHICO" - MARQUISE

What inspired you to start a vlog covering topics related to natural haircare for men? What other types of topics do you plan to cover in your vlog?

The inspiration for covering topics related to natural haircare for men is directly related to my passion for helping others. I know that most men are naive when it comes to caring for their hair and some are just to lazy to experiment with new things to find out what works for them...once upon a time I was like this, but then I decided to take my own initiative to find out what work best on my hair; but there was a problem. I was always very discontent when I search the internet and found no sites or vlog that showed men how to do Men's hair!!! For some reason even though the women are doing an awesome job at demonstrating their natural hair vlogs, I would felt better to know what a guy's regimen was!!
In the near future I plan to show men how to properly deep condition their natural hair, I plan to discuss the products that should be used as protective haircare practice, I also want to show men (since we are very lazy!) how to make quick homemade conditioners and oil mixes that will promote shine, softness, and luster!!! I am super excited about all of this so subscribe!!

What are some of your favorite haircare products that you use on a consistent basis?
One of my absolute favorite products to use is Shea Butter. This hair product has been with me since the beginning and has worked to my favor! It has promoted continuous softness, and manageability. I have also been using an oil mixture consisting of Lanolin oil, safflower oil, mineral oil, and vitamins A,D, and E. This oil mixture has transformed my dull hair into vibrant lustrous hair!! Leave-in-conditioners are a must!!! In order to keep hair soft one must condition and that is exactly what I do!! I use various types ranging from liquid to creme. This alone if used everyday can prevent erratic breakage and hardness!!

What comes to your mind when you think of a woman with natural hair?

When I think of women and Natural hair I think of WOW!!! Wow taken into the context of strong, sexy, intelligent, raw, exposed, uncensored, and free to be who they want! I embrace the fact that women take enough confidence in their personality and natural beauties, enough not to be consumed by "relaxed hair" and "weaves" , constantly seen in the medias today. Women are strong, beautiful, and intelligent. Why not be Natural.
