One Brown Crafter = Art + Craft + Culture
My name is Tracy Viverretta. A year ago, I created a blog called One Brown Crafter, to give voice and space to culturally diverse artists and crafters by showcasing their work. OBC was also created to share my own artwork, share art resources and information, create a positive and uplifting creative community and to celebrate diversity and culture. The name of the blog came about as a result of participating in various craft fairs and being the "one brown crafter". After spending many years wondering where other artists of color were, I created the blog to find these artists and highlight their work.
1. New Work: Hand Lettered Prints - Natural Hair Series
A love of natural hair has spawned a series of illustrations on the subject. You’ll find these and more new prints in the shop.
2. New Work: Embroidery Hoop Paintings
These sweet paintings on embroidery hoops will sometimes include elements of embroidery, collage and applique.
3. The OBC Shop Has Been Updated
I’ve filled up the shop with a bunch of new, hand lettered prints, totes, etc., and more new stuff is on the way since the holidays are just around the corner. 🙂
4. Call For Naturalistas + Afrolistas!
I’ve got a new feature that I started in September showcasing natural hair. If you want to show off your own or your child’s, natural hairstyle, please submit up to 5 of your best photos with your name and a bio about your natural hair journey. And if you have a shop, blog, or other links that you want your story to link back to, include them with your submission. Please spread the word and tell your friends, family members and social media contacts about the opportunity to show off their natural hairstyles. Thanks!
Thanks Tracy for your creative contributions and for highlighting other artists of color on your site, One Brown Crafter! *Mae*
