This past weekend, I had the privilege of being the keynote blogger
at the 1st annual Naturalista Hair Show in Silver Spring, MD! Going back to Maryland is always great for me since I spent a majority of my life there (proud graduate of UMD! - Go Terps) and most of my family is there too. The event was held on Sunday, July 28 at the Silver Spring Civic Center and I was too happy that my mom, sister (Victoria)
and close friend/like a sister/fellow blogger Sharlene of Sharlendipity
could come as well!
The event had an amazing turnout and it was great being able to chat with people one-on-one. As much as I love sharing information online, I prefer talking to people face-to-face any day : )
The day was filled with a number of events, including workshops on blogging, protective styling and more! I was a member of the panel for the blogging workshop along with some incredible ladies: Erin Martin of Bag Ladies Radio
, Jess from HairGetsKinky.com
, Tarin of NaturallyMeMedia
and Pamela of Cornrows & Co
. The panel was moderated by Erika of TheFashionesta.com
and Jonna of Naturally-Glam.com
. We had a great discussion about creative ways to grow your brand, time management and more!
The vendor hall was filled with a number of different businesses ranging from hair care to even handmade stationery. They also had a hair styling competition for locs and loose natural hair, which I had fun judging. There were so many creative and intricate styles.
It was also great meeting the many awesome bloggers in the DMV area. These ladies were down-to-earth and we definitely shared a few laughs in the photobooth sponsored by ORS/Curls Unleashed!

Angela (pictured on the left below) is the founder of the N Natural Hair Salon and the brains behind this wonderful event. She is incredibly sweet and you can definitely tell she has a passion for what she does. If you're in the MD area, definitely stop by her salon and let her know Natural Chica sent ya : )
(Special Note: Thanks to Victoria and Sharlene of Sharlendipity for being my impromptu "photo assistants" for the day *smile*)
